Alignment icons grayed out

I'm using QlikView version 9.00.7502.8 SR5. The alignment icons on the Design toolbar are grayed out. If I open View/Toolbars and click the Customize button, the alignment icons become available, but as soon as I close the Customize window, they are grayed out again.

If I click on multiple objects, then right click, the alignment tools are available there.

Does anyone have any idea why these icons are grayed out on the Design toolbar?

They are active if you select two or more sheet objects. Otherwise there is nothing to align.
