Qlikview access in Dual mode (DMS & NTFS)

Hi All,

Hope you all doing well

I have a scenario where I have to use the authorization of access point to the users

1) Those are the part of Active Directory (Same domain) and,

2) Users which are not the part of same directory i.e. from custom directory.

At a same time.

Is it possible and how?

Thanks,

Keerthy

Thanks for your reply Deepak. Its a good document you have shared.

What type of authorization mode you are using for this setup?

As my assumption that you are using custom directory then that must be DMS.

So, if its DMS then can we leverage the AD (windows authentication) in the mode.

Thanks in advance.

hi Keerthy,

Yes it can leverage AD.

The  NTFS and DMS is used majorly for controling the security  of the files(who should see which files)

If NTFS the authorized users are added  by right clicking the folder/file and go i to security and add the users name.

In DMS the authorized users are added in the user document tab(QMS) under authorization tab.

I hope you got my point.

Hi Deepak,

we can use NTFS and DMS mode, only if we have two servers...

HI gopi,

I didn't get you. In this case you need to webservers. But only DMS mode will be helpful

Two webserver are created so that we can redirect users to different pages.

eg: User from Local NT will have URL like  http:\\ipaddress\qlikview

and Customer user will have the link to the Login page.

I hope this what you meant.

Hi Deepak,

So if I put QV Server on DMS authorization mode.

               And in Directory server Connectors

                         For Active directory:       LDAP address

For Custom directory:    add custom user

Therefore, in case of server1 Directory server Connectors will point to Active directory,

And in case of server2 Directory server Connectors will point to Custom Directory.

Is it correct?

Thanks

Yes.

if you view the slide 9. In that on the second web server we are changing the authentication to login and we are adding the URL of login page to it.

Anothe rimportant point is to provide URL to users based on their directory server.

For eg : for NT user  you will provide http:\\ipaddress\qlikview

and for Customer user it would be http:\\ipaddress\qlikview\Login.htm
