    Overview

     

    With the new Qlik Community Mobile Application for Apple devices you will be able to monitor content that’s the most important to you, post and update content and collaborate with other members when not at your computer. This resource document outlines the benefits and and provides detailed instructions on how to download and best use this mobile application.

    1. Application Features

    • View your Inbox and Bookmarks
    • Search for people, places and content
    • Follow people, and places and content in your activity streams
    • Read, Reply, Create and Edit content including:
      • Blogs
      • Documents
      • Videos
      • Discussions
      • Direct messages
      • Status updates in a group or on your profile
    • Add @mentions and images to status updates, discussions and replies


    2. Installation

    Qlik Community Mobile is available in the Apple App store for iOS devices only.From any iOS device, open the Apple App Store and search for Qlik Community Mobile.


    The Icon will look like this:

    Follow the instructions to download and install the application.  You can also click here for easy access to the store.


    3. Getting Started

    After successful installation of the Qlik Community Mobile Application:

    • Open the Application on your device
    • Click Continue under the URL of community.qlik.com
    • Login with your Qlik Single Sign-on profile.

    *This is the same user id and password you use to log into Qlik Community and the Qlik.com website from your computer.


    Upon successful login and authentication you will be taken to your Inbox feed.


    By clicking on the icon with four horizontal lines in the upper left corner you can access other options:

    • Inbox
    • Profile
    • Find
    • Bookmarks
    • Settings

     

    On the lower left side you can see and access:

    • Activity Streams

    Or

    • Create a new Activity Stream


    Once you select the content type you want to view you will see the feed in the center column.


    4. Find

    Use the Find feature to run a general search, locate something specific or to see your Recently Viewed items.


    General Search

      • Go to your Inbox
      • Select the Find Icon in the upper left hand corner
      • Add your keyword to the search field to locate content
      • Select the Follow icon and the desired activity stream in which you want to follow the person, place, or item

     

    Search for specific People, Places, and Content

      • Select the search icon in the upper right hand corner
      • In the search field use the pop-up keyboard to type in your search terms, then tap Search
      • The results will be returned beneath search headings; you can also filter the listings
      • Select any item to view it


    Recently Viewed items

      • Select the magnifying glass in the top right corner but don't type anything in the search box [I don’t see this]
      • You can select the search headings to filter the listings
      • Select any item to view it


    5. Inbox

    From your Inbox you can view and interact with content. Some examples include:

    • Sort items by selecting the All or Unread filter at the bottom of the screen
    • Mark items as Read or Unread by selecting edit and the items to display in either state
    • Select an inbox item to access that content:
    • Discussion threads – See the whole thread, Like or Reply to the post or individual comments
    • Blog posts- See the whole post, Like or Reply to the post or individual comments
    • Messages- View and respond to messages sent directly to you via Qlik Community
    • Announcements- View system announcements
    • Documents- View, Download, Like and Reply to Documents


    When on any content page you will also see additional action icons on the bottom of the screen: Follow, Share, Reply

    • Share (you may enter a recipient email address)
    • Follow (allows you to select desired feeds for subscription)
    • Display (toggle between initial content piece or show replies)

    All of your changes and actions should automatically sync up with all other access points for your Qlik Community profile.


    6. Follow People, Places and Content

    Here is how to follow people, places or content within Qlik Community via the mobile application.

    • Go to your Inbox
    • Select the All Activity stream in the lower left hand corner
    • Select the content type desired:
      • Person’s name or avatar
      • Place (forum or group)
      • Content Item (discussion, blog post, document etc)
    • Select the Follow icon on the upper right hand corner
    • Select the content feed where you want the item to display


    7. Stop Following People, Places, or Content

    To stop following a person, place or content item you may access and update via the Activity Stream or the content page itself.


    Via Activity Stream

    • Go to your Inbox
    • Select the All Activity or other activity stream in the lower left hand corner
    • Select the desired content piece
    • Select the Follow icon on the upper right hand corner of the screen
    • De-select the desired content streams

     

    Via the Content page

    • Go to the screen which displays the specific piece of content
    • Select the Follow icon on the bottom of the screen
    • De-select the desired content streams


    The updates will still appear in the All Activity stream, however, because that stream shows all public activity in the community.


    8. Reply to Content

    You can reply to discussions and comment on documents, blog posts, and status updates.


    Reply to content Via Activity Stream

    • Go to your Inbox
    • Select the All Activity or other activity stream in the lower left hand corner
    • Select the desired content piece you’d like to reply to or comment on
    • Select the Reply button on the bottom of the screen
    • Add your text
    • Click Reply in the upper right corner of the screen


    9. Create Content

    You can create discussions, documents, blog posts, and status updates, as well as send direct messages, right from your mobile device.


    Create your content

    • Select Create in the left sidebar
    • Select the type of content you want to create (discussion, status update, blog post, etc)
    • Add your title, text etc.
    • Select where the item will post with the Publish as button in the upper right corner
    • Save or publish your changes when you're finished

     

    From the embedded keyboard you can also:

    • @mention people, places, or content items
    • embed images in the content
    • format text so it's bold, underlined, and so on


    10. Edit Content

    With the Qlik Community Mobile Application you can edit content items that you have permissions to edit, such as your discussions, blog posts, and documents.

    • Go to your content item
    • Select Edit in the upper right corner of the screen
    • Make the changes to the content
    • Save or publish your changes when you're finished

     

    From the embedded keyboard you can also:

    • @mention people, places, or content items
    • embed images in the content
    • format text so it's bold, underlined, and so on

     

    10. Help and Feedback

    If you have a problem with downloading the Qlik Community Mobile Application double check that you have a good connection and that you are following all of the steps per the Apple App Store instructions.

     

    If you experience issues or have feedback for our team regarding the user experience or content once the application has been installed please post a response to the MVP launch thread so we can gather details and also assist other members.
