How Do I Migrate from NPrinting 16 to NPrinting 18?

Please NOTE: There is no direct/in-place upgrade path from NP 16 to NP 18 as they are completely separate platforms. NP 16 is 32 bit Client server program and NP 18 is 64 bit Web based console deployment.

The only current path to NP 18 from NP 16 is to migrate report templates only from the NP 16 platform to the NP 18 platform.

Before migrating to NP 18 from NP 16, please consider the following feature gaps in NP 18. To view the gap list, please visit the information at near the end of the page at the following link:

NPrinting 16 and NPrinting 18 cannot be installed on the same server concurrently.
We recommend setting up NP 18 in a separate environment with a separate dedicated NP server service account and evaluate NP 18 separately from NP 16. You may use your NP 16 server license for your NP 18 installation but you would need to turn off your NP 16 server to avoid licensing conflicts with existing maintenance agreements. If you wish to evaluate NP 18 separately, you may be able to request a test license from your Qlik Account Manager.

For information regarding requirements and installation process for NP 18, please visit:
    http://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/Content/DeployingQVNprinting/Deploying.htm

You must be on QlikView NPrinting 16 SR 3 or higher to leverage the project export tool found in the NPrinting Designer.

Once you have successfully installed NP 18, you can export template projects from NP 16 and import them into NP 18:

    https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/Content/AdministeringQVNprinting/Import-reports.htm

Please note that for this to be successful, you will need to create the QlikView connections in NP18 prior to this: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/Content/GettingStarted/HowCreateConnections/Connect-to-QlikView-docs.htm

In order to plan your migration, please contact your Qlik Account or Partner manager to arrange for Qlik Consulting Services to assist you with this effort.
