How Do I Upgrade from NPrinting 16 to NPrinting 17?

Please NOTE: There is no direct/inplace upgrade path from NP 16 to NP 17 as they are completely separate platforms. NP 16 is 32 bit Client server program and NP 17 is 64 bit Web based console deployment.

The only path to NP 17 from NP 16 is to migrate report templates only from the NP 16 platform to the NP 17 platform.

Before migrating to NP 17 from NP 16, please consider the following feature gaps in NP 17. To view the gap list, please visit the information at near the end of the page at the following link:
    http://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/17.3/Content/Introduction/Introduction.htm

NPrinting 16 and NPrinting 17 cannot be installed on the same server concurrently.
We recommend setting up NP 17 in a separate environment with a separate dedicated NP server service account and evaluate NP 17 separately from NP 16. You may use your NP 16 server license for your NP 17 installation but you would need to turn off your NP 16 server to avoid licensing conflicts with existing maintenance agreements. If you wish to evaluate NP 17 separately, you may be able to request a test license from your Qlik Account Manager.

For information regarding requirements and installation process for NP 17, please visit:
    http://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/17.3/Content/DeployingQVNprinting/Deploying.htm

You must be on QlikView NPrinting 16 SR 3 or higher to leverage the project export tool found in the NP template editor.

Once you have successfully installed NP 17, you can export template projects from NP 16 and import them into NP 17.

In order to plan your migration, please contact your Qlik Account or Partner manager to arrange for Qlik Consulting Services to assist you with this effort.
