Microsoft SQL Server 2012 used to store a simple Sales Database.
The schema was restored successfully and is visible through SQL Server Management Studio.
It is also possible to connect an ODBC connection through 'Set up ODBC Data Sources' in Windows
When connecting Qlik Sense to this Database schema, the following error was seen through the creation of an ODBC connection. Connection through either ODBC or OLE DB in Qlik Sense Desktop had no problem. This was only a problem in Qlik Sense itself. Doing the same via an OLE DB connection, did not show the schema as being available.
From looking at the logs of the schema itself through SQL Management Studio, it was seen that is was not in fact the logged in windows user, but actually the windows user used to run the Qlik Sense Windows services. This user was not set up in SQL Management Studio under the Security > Logins section. When this user was added with the required administrative privileges, then it became possible to connect Qlik Sense to this data source now via ODBC or OLEDB connection.
