Qlik Sense Desktop 2.2 "Connection Lost" at launch

Hello. I just installed Sense Desktop 2.2 on a newly imaged machine. Every time I launch it, it says "Opening the Hub", and then I am greeted with

An error occurred. Connection lost. Make sure that Qlik Sense is running properly. If your session timed out due to inactivity, refresh to continue working.

Clicking refresh just comes back to the same error. I have rebooted since installing and that made no difference. I am running Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64 bit.

Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: And of course, now it just randomly started working.. I would still like some insight into this issue though as if I can expect it to creep up again then this will not be a good fit for our organization.

EDIT 2: Ugh.. Now 2.1 on my other machine is doing the same exact thing. There is no server, just Qlik Sense Desktop.. So this "error" seems rather absurd.

Thank you for the response, however my issue was not involving a server component, purely the desktop client in a local environment.

I am having the same issue on a new installation. Have uninstalled, removed all logs, removed all files/folders, reinstalled (run as administrator) - absolutely no success. All solutions talk about going to QMC etc - I can get to NOTHING. The system simply gives the connection lost - an error has occurred message and then spins around saying connecting to hub. Netstat shows 4848 at time-wait.
