Creating dynamic measure selection in Qliksense

Hi community,

Is there a way in qliksense to create a sort of measure drop down, that has multiple measure values a user can choose from to populate the measure fields in a chart.

For E.g.  Avg. Age, % Literacy rate, Total population can be different measures I want to look at across time ( These are say variables in my data set). A single chart should achieve it based on user selection of the measure. (Dimension remains same - e.g. across years)

(This is achieved using parameters in Tableau. Would like to know if a equivalent exists)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Uday,

This qvf was very helpful. Unfortunately, when i am replicating it for my data, I am unable to get it to work. The metric selection is working properly but the distribution isn't. Please see the qvf attached.

Can you please help me out?

Thanks

HI Malvika,

Make sure to take out '=' sign in the variable measure.

Don't know why when you give a expression in the fx editor by default it puts = sign on to the measure.

So once you finished writing the expression take out the = sign.It will work.

Thanks,

Hi Uday,

I had removed that. In fact, the qvf i have shared with you doesn't have an "=". It still doesn't work

Thanks

HI Malvika,

You app is working on my desktop.

Could you please share what exactly is the issue?

But follow these steps

-Got to Edit

-click on the variable object

-In the select Metri pane

-click on the variable

-click on Pop

(am sure you will see =Sum(Populaiton) and same with Sales =Sum(Sales))

-without going to expression editor just take out the =sign and press enter.

-now press done

-you can check the buttons now.

Coz I can see your data is responding to the buttons.

Thanks,

H Uday,

yes, this worked. I was looking under the chart measures instead of going for the variable extension.

However, i have one more question - did you face any issue with the visualization while opening the app? When i open the app and there is no selection, i get an error 'Visualization failed to render'. Only when i make the selection does the chart appear. Do you know of any workaround to avoid this?

Thanks !

HI Malvika,

What's the Sense version you are using?

Am on 2.2 and works fine with this.

Or Try to download and install the latest version of the extension. It might solve the issue.

Thanks,
