QMC URL dont work if different "localhost" or FQDN

FQDN host with QVS - "srv-qlik01.ad.domain.com" and If I go to the link http://srv-qlik01.ad.domain.com:4780/QMC all works perfectly

If I go to the link http://localhost:4780/QMC/ - everything works fine. Local Address QVS is 192.168.22.110

I made changes to the hosts file on QVS machine:

192.168.22.110     qlik.domain.com

And i try to link http://qlik.domain.com:4780/QMC/ QMC asks for a username and password and does not accept it. Why? If i try to this link with another machine in local network - login and password accepted. How can I fix it?

Hi,

Check which zone used for the link. Maybe it is internet zone, not intranet not trusted? In Internet zone NTLM is not used by default. And use domain prefix for login.

Trusted intranet zone. All options account syntax. The result is always the same - username or password is incorrect. Trusted Zone is or not - does not matter. He must accept login and password in either case. This is no logical explanation. And it is  killing me.

Hi,

Before I can jump in on this, I have to ask one question. When you make the change in the Host file to:

127.0.0.1 qlik.domain.com you are doing this on the box that the QMC is running on and you are on that machine when you go to  http://qlik.domain.com:4780/QMC/

I checked the issue. I addedd name "qwe" to hosts and try to open QMC "http://qwe:4780/qmc". Failed. I think it is feature of QMC web server. No ideas...

Bill, can this not be AD that is causing trouble? The host name resolution is working perfectly, but AD cannot assign permissions to a user for a server name that doesn't exist anywhere except on the current box.

Of course, that would mean that the answer to your question is no...

Ilya, I think the best thing you can do is to add qlik.domain.com to your local DNS server (on a windows box somwhere, probably on the domain controller).
