Server and Publisher on different machines

Hi,

I need to install Qlikview Publisher 11 on Machine1 and Qlikview Server 11 on Machine2. To achive this:

1. Should Distribution Service and QlikView Server be on different machines?

2. Do I need any separate licence?

3. Do I need to install Directory Service Connector on both the machines and if not, will there be authentication problem?

Hi

Install

Server1

- QlikView Server

- QlikView WebServer

Server2

- QlikView Distribution Service

- QlikView Directory Service

- QlikView Management Service

Access in the management console system tab. Then you need to set where each service.

In QlikView Server Add or change the URL qvp://Server2/ to qvp://Server1/

In Qlikview Web Servers Add or change the URL http://Server2:4750/QVWS/Service to http://Server1:4750/QVWS/Service

Best Regards.

HI,

Install DSC , QDS and management services in one server and Qlikview Server and QVWS in other one.

You can apply both (publisher and server ) License in QMC only.

Hi Tonial,

As per your recommendation i have selected scenario 1.

Can this be done without the load balancing router?

Then i run into the following issue. I have 2 Web Server Services. If i shutdown 1 of the QlikView Server Service, the Web Server Service does not know where to go. I get the message page can not be displayed. If i physically change the address to the other QlikView Server it recognizes the access point. How do i configure the fall back Web Server Service? How do i point to one and only URL so there is no confusion?

Regards,

Arish

Hi fernando.tonial‌,

One of client had ask to setup a qlikview server with IIS as a web server, but he had asked to install only web server (IIS) on different server machine.

Can we install web server(IIS) instead of qlikview web server and qlikview server with other components on different machines(server)?

If yes, can you please let me know how should i proceed

Also, it would be helpful if you can provide guidance on the above setup will be useful or not?

Thanks,

Punit

Yes, it is possible, in the process of installation of QlikView, choose IIS Web Server instead of QlikView Web Server.
I have a guide only in Portuguese.
You can see this doc.

Installing IIS 7 with Qlikview 11.pptx

Pay attention on the Profile screen, it is necessary to choose custom installation and only the Webserver with IIS.

Best Regards.

Hi fernando.tonial

Thanks for your response.

Could you please also let me know if we would be requiring the Cluster license(I mean No_OF_Cluster_Nodes=1 in LEF) or normal single server license key with no details of No_OF_Cluster_Nodes will work?

According to my understanding the single server license key will work.

Thanks,

Punit
