What is a better practise? Storing a table in QVD format and loading it again in that format or doing a resident load? This for when you further need to transform a table

Hi all,

What is a better practise? Storing a table in QVD format and loading it again or doing a resident load? This for when you further need to transform a table.

E.g. I have an Orders table, I store it in a QVD file format and then further down the script I load it again to continue further transforming it.

Is this better than doing a Resident load?

And why is it better?

I would suggest to test both approached with your data and transformations.

There are some discussions and blog posts that may imply that QVD Store / LOAD is faster than a RESIDENT, but YMMV.

For loading the same table in same qvw the resident load is the better choice.

Stefan Wühl is right.

Standard answer from a consultant: It depends. So you have to try what is faster depending on your transformations!
