NPrinting 17 - Generating

Hi

I have installed NPrinting 17 Server on a fresh Windows 2012 VM, created an app, and now trying to create a connection. I have tried both a local QV app and a server-based app, and for both of these the Connections show as "Generating", and never get to "Generated".

In the 'nprinting_engine.log' file I can see (ip address removed):

2016-03-06 11:49:00,303 [32] WARN Qlik.NPrinting.Engine.Consumer.BlockingContentResolver - Navigator stuck on connection f9eb5ae1-2d35-4857-acf9-54f487890511, forcing close of connection. STACK: Qlik.Reporting.Engine.Messages.Exceptions.NavigatorStuckException: Navigator navigator=qlikview;documentpath="qvp://@00.00.00.00/Sales Compass.qvw" is stuck and can't be used anymore to resolve requests ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

Can anyone suggest any mechanism of identifying the problem?

Thanks

Al.

See your other discussion for my ideas - I think you just need to remove the username & password in the Connection settings : Connect Nprinting 17 to Qlik11 Server

Hi there, i hope someone can help me. I´ve the same problem. The connection is always "Generating" I installed Nprinting Server 17, and i don´t know if it´s right that i installed the NPrinting Engine in the Server (where i installed the NPrinting Server). Or should i install NPrinting Engine in a local computer? Thanks for your help!

Hi Roberto,

It's okay to install the NPrinting Engine on the server as the NPrinting Server.  The only thing you have to be careful to do is assign a different user to run NPrinting services than that which runs QlikView services.  Not doing that tends to cause the problems that you are experiencing.

Best, Karl

Hi Karl, thanks you for your answer. I´ve this problem and also the engine turns offline. I understand that this issue is related with the NPrinting Scheduler, but i stop and restart the service and nothing happens.

Hi Roberto,

As Karl said, you need to have a dedicated service account with it's own QlikView CAL for NPrinting - for instance, it should not be used to run QlikView services as well. Your screenshot shows that you are using .\Qlikview for both QlikView and NPrinting services. Take a look at: Installing Qlik NPrinting ‒ Qlik NPrinting

Do the same rules apply if you have a separate NPrinting server?

Hi Mary,

Yes. You will always need a dedicated NPrinting service account.

Do I need to uninstall and reinstall in order to change the service account? I was unable to get it working by just changing the login from the services. If so, is there a way to back up all the existing tasks and reports?

Thank you for your help!
