NPrinting 17 Excel Import Template

Hello everyone,

I've been testing the user, filter and group import in NPrinting 17 and I thought I'd share the Excel that I using to do that.  I created it based on the information available in the help documentation (Importing users with filters and groups ‒ QlikView NPrinting)‌.

Hopefully it'll save you some time if you are doing the same.

BTW everything seems to import properly except of the Locale.  Also, if you want to update the filters that are assigned to a user, you have to delete the user first.

Feel free to add your own comments and improvements to the file.

Best, Karl

The import bug will be resolved in the next NPrinting release due out later this month

This bug was resolved?

Yes the bug was resolved from version 17.2.1 and 17.2.2 didn't roll it back

Though I have I still have the problem, that Import Task doesn't "Remove recipients if not present in import file".

But do proceed with your upgrade. 17.2.1 is the first stable version of NP 17 - such a relief to work with!

I have the same issue. Is the problem in the newest version solved. So I can update without any problems my users and the filters will still be activated?

Yes it is and yes you can!

I have testet intensively on two separate installations at different customers: One which has been upgraded from 17.1 to 17.2 to 17.2.1 to 17.2.2 and one brand new installation. Both works as intended with that little bug, that I cannot make it remove recipients, who are not on the list I import from.

Enjoy - I haven't restarted a NP service yet !!!!! (December 1st.)

FYI: I just reported another limitation to Qlik Support:

The "Update filters if modified" doesn't work 100 %. I needed to move a filter from the column "Values" to "Numeric Values". It should be simple to move in Excel and it was. But Qlik NPrinting 17.2.2 didn't get the change.

PS: A little learning: If you have a filter which is a dual - remember to select "Numerical Values"

Hi guys,

I'm using NP 17.3 and I'm still have the same problem as Bernard has mentioned.

Filters are not associated to user automatically, I had to manually assign the filter to the user

Do you have any idea about it?

Thanks in advance

I have created a PowerShell script for this, which might simplicate things even further.

It imports the users automatically from the AD and outputs them to an Excel file, which then Nprinting can import:

Import Nprinting Users from Active Directory automatically

Thank you so much Erick.

I'll see your work.

I think nothing changed about filter association on NP17 by Import task.

Thanks again
