Governance on Mashup Report

Hello Folks,

I needed to understand how Governance report would work on a Mashup report. What kind of information would be captured in Governance Operational App for Mashup report which is made from 4 different Qliksense Applications.

Do we have any documents around it.

Thanks and Regards,

ASP

The app sessions (for apps used in the mashup) will indeed show up in the Operations Monitor, just as do all app sessions. However, I have not found any reference to an actual "mashup" in the logs that is read in by the Operations Monitor. So, to my knowledge, for a Mashup you will see all the app-user sessions in the Operations Monitor but no "session" linked to a particular Mashup.

Note that the changes made in creating a mashup (called an "Extension" in the logging) is present in the "QMC Change History" page which documents when the mashup was created or modified and by whom.

Not sure about this, Governance Operational App takes data from the Log files, if accessing different app objects in single Mashup page writes log of the operations then it will work for Mashups as well.

Thanks Karthikeyan, i also was thinking on same line, the issue is i dont have way to verify this in absence of environment and we have to put this as part of user requirements.

So will log files capture this from Mashup reports as well.

Hello all - thanks for your questions - thanks for tagging me Lakshmikandh - Awar you can use the governance apps in your mash-ups. You would first need to provide the appropriate access to the app to make it visible to the content creators.

Just as an example - I will use the operations monitor - not I have given myself, user1 and user 2 access to this app

Then I can reference it in the Dev Hub where I can create a Mash-up - refer to this video to learn more about the Dev Hub: Qlik Sense - The Developer Hub (video)

I then use the Mash-up Editor to create the Mash-up:

I can now select the operations monitor app from the list:

And create my Mash-up

Here is an example that mashs-up 2 items from the operations monitor and 1 from a sales app I have:

Hope this puts you in the right direction.

Here is the help for the dev hub:Dev Hub ‒ Qlik Sense

Hello Anwar - I posted an example as a reply to the other thread - but yes - you would create the governance app from the log files or re-use the apps we provide as an example Operations Monitor.

Hi Michael,

Appreciate you replying to the post.

my question was if i create a Mashup which has 4 different Qliksense application, how will Operations Monitor show the statistic for this particular Mashup.

Note: Objects from Operations Monitor is not used in this Mashup.

Thanks,

Anwar

Ah!

That is a very good question.

I will include twa‌ on this thread.

I created 3 apps, Anwar, Anwar2 and Anwa3 each with 1 bar chart. I published them and accessed one using the interface as normal. (that was Anwar) - I then created a Mashup and used 1 chart from each app. I accessed the Mashup - and all 3 charts from 3 different apps displayed.

However after reloading the operations monitor, I only see the access from the Qlik Sense interface - not from the Mashup. So one can conclude that we either do not log or present mashup activity.

Let's have Tyler confirm or deny. Tyler?

I would agree with Michael that Sense should log a session entry for each app in a mashup when a user accesses the mashup.

I verified this in Sense 3.1 using a mashup including objects from four apps. After accessing the mashup and then closing the browser where I was accessing the mashup, I check the c:\programdata\qlik\sense\log\engine\trace\session_engine.txt log and see entries for each app in the mashup:

This should then be reported in the Operations Monitor.

Note, however, that the concept of a "Mashup" does not show up in the Operations Monitor. I cannot track down that the this user above viewed the four apps at the same time because he interacted with them in a specific Mashup. However, I can see that the apps were viewed by that user.

Thanks Gurus for insightful reply.

So should i understand this that if a user access the Mashup, individual apps in the mashup are logged in the Log file, but it does not come up on Operations monitor app.
