Mail with bookmark as a link - life-time of bookmark

Dear Qlik specialists,

a client of us use this functionality (Mail with bookmark as a link) very often to share analysis/filters through different employees (all have access to the dashboard and are authorized to see the data). He spotted now the issue, that these links have a limited life-time. If he tries to open a link (sent by another employee some time ago), the filter aren't set in the dashboard.

In my opinion, it looks like the bookmark is not anymore there (or not anymore valid). Know someone of you the life-time of such a 'temporary' bookmark? And furthermore, is it possible to extend this life-time?

Any feedback is highly appreciated.

It's by default one week for last used (replaced by creation date if never used).

This is configurable in QVS. Setting is called ServerTempBookmarkDayTimeout=N

"The bookmarks will by default be deleted from the .shared file after 7 days, counting down from it's "last used" timestamp. The setting is if you want to keep them longer or shorter."

I think these server-generated bookmarks have a limited life-time and they won't be displayed within the qmc by the server-objects from the document. But they will be included within the shared-file - I have seen them there within a editor but if you used the shared-file viewer from the power tools you might be able to see some context like a creation timestamp and a life-time value and maybe other settings - which might be configurable within the settings.ini or another config-file (but I don't believe that this is documented anywhere).

Hi Marcus, thank you very much for your immediate response. I already checked and saw some information. But only the modified date and not the valid to (see screenshot).

Does anyone other have some knowledge?

Maybe bbt or pcammaert could give some hints.

I see some are getting corrupted more often. I would suggest to completely delete the .shared file and create new one to see if that fixes the issue.

No idea.

Can't find any obvious setting in both the configuration files (In Program Files\QlikView) and the settings files (in ProgramData\QlikTech) that might influence this timeout value. It may have been fixed at compile time.

Maybe moe can shed some light on this?

So we simply add a key-value pair like that to the settings.ini file In the [Settings 7] section?

That's why I couldn't find it. It simply isn't there if we use the default value

Yes. If it does not exist, just add it.

NOTE! QVS is not really my expertise but happy to help with whatever little I know
