NPrinting separate PDFs for each Excel sheet

Is there a way to create a separate PDF for each Excel sheet in a report? I've used Pages to create multiple Excel sheets, but when I run the report, I'd like to create a different PDF document for each sheet. I'm using NPrinting 17.2.1 linked to Qlik Sense.

If you have small and fixed number of sheets you can work around it by using recipients.

Each recipient will have its filter with one of values which are used in pages.

Scenario 2 in this document: Cycling in NPrinting 16 vs. Bursting in NPrinting 17

Currently this isn't possible in NPrinting 17.

Hi,

I am not sure about NPrinting 17 but I am using version 16 and while creating a task it gives an option how you want to distribute the report.

Here is the screenshot if it helps

Hi Neelam,

Thank you for your reply! Most of these same options are available in version 17. Unfortunately they don't distinguish between sheets. So the xlsx option will publish a single Excel report with all sheets in the same document, and the pdf option will pdf all sheets into a single pdf report. But I would like to have a pdf report for EACH sheet in my Excel template. So if I have 3 sheets in my template, there should be 3 pdf reports generated.

It's a gap feature from NPrinting 16 called Cycles. Not available in NPrinting 17.

So does that mean that it's possible to create separate reports by Excel sheets in NPrinting 16, but not in NPrinting 17?

Correct.

As you noted in NPrinting 17 you can create a sheet, page, section, slide... for every value of a dimension, but not a separate file.

What's the use case if I can ask?

I've used the Pages option to create sheets within Excel based on an imported field from Qlik Sense. This field is variable in the sense that it won't have a fixed number of values. I'd like to create each sheet as a separate pdf and export to a folder so I can distribute these to the various users of the reports.

Ultimately, I have a 1:1 relationship between recipients and Excel sheets, but there are ~10,000 recipients, so adding these recipients to NPrinting, then creating and assigning filters isn't feasible. The variability of the field also complicates managing this through filters.

Hi Matus,

This is a really interesting article! I'm unfortunately looking at both a variable number of sheets and a very large number (~10,000). Scenario 2: Receive separate reports for each country - save to disk is a fascinating work around, particularly when paired with a group import of users and filters.

Although the solution presented in this article partially solves my problem, it's by no means an elegant solution due to the quantity of users needed to execute the task.

There's mention of the Cycling feature being introduced in NPrinting 17 sometime in 2017, has anyone heard of when this might occur?
