User in Session Log with no CAL assigned

Hi all,

I was wondering if somebody could help me with this...

The fact is that in my session log it is appearing an entry for a user that has neither document CAL nor Named Cal assigned

and we do not allow dynamic CAL assigment. So, How could it be possible?

The "Cal Type" for this entry is "None" and "Exit Reason" is "Socket closed by client".

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Sergio.

Sergio how are you?

This could be one of the reason that you have this information in the Qlikview Log:

None is when no license was allocated for any reason. The reason is on the Exit Reason column.

When you have insufficient documents_cals and the user try to open the document, a row is created in the session_log file with the Cal Type None and exit Reason 'Socket closed by client'.

Hope help,

Fernando K.

Hi,

Have you enabled Allow Leasing License Option. Might be the user have leased the license from Qlikview desktop.

Sergio - Is it possible to post the snippet from the Sessions log to what you are referring to?

Krishnapriya - Don't think that's it as the user would need a Named User CAL in order to complete the license lease.

Aside from the log entry, is anything irregular happening with this user? Is the user able to open a document or perform some other task for which the user has no permission?

Please also post the version number (including the build no, or the Service Release no) of your QlikView Server environment. These messages may be linked to a specific release.

Thanks for your reply Krishnapriya.

I agree with Chip, "Don't think that's it as the user would need a Named User CAL in order to complete the license lease.".

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply!

I guess the user is able to open the document because Session duration in the session log is always greater than 0. In the example above, session duration is about half an hour for two different documents but "Selections" field in session log is always equal to 0 for this user. It's really strange.

There are no session cals and usage cals in the licence.
