Hello Experts,
I am looking for a tool/script to merge two qvw files. Requirement is, I have n number of qvw files and need to create single QVW with multiple Sheets/tabs added to single QVW file.
I think you can call all the QVW file with one QVW file. Its so simple. If you have different different QVW file make one QVW filw and call all other which you want to show in one. Go to Edit script and load data from files -->Click QlikView file then ok. Just try whether it works.
Without knowing the full story here this does sound like a bad idea to me. Trying to cram several documents into one sounds like it might have an adverse effect on performance.
Is there a good reason for putting it all together? In that case I assume there would be some pretty clear points for where the data will be linked. It should take some script rewriting though to make sure it's all loaded the way you want instead of just loading everything from every source.
Hi Shubham, i am looking for a script that can merge multiple qvw files. Data model in each of qvw file also need to merge to a single script.
I have written a script that reads Excel file. Excel file will contain DB details, tables and fields etc. I have a template and macro is written to generate qvw files based on the information read from the excel file. Each sheet in the excel file corresponds to one qvw file. That means if I have two sheets in excel workbook, my scipt will generate two qvw files. Now my requirement is to merge generated qvw files into a single qvw with multiple sheets.
In that case I would either load straight from the Excel files to the new QVW file, or store the tables created in your QVW layer to QVD files, and use these as the data source for your new QVW file.
Actual problem statement is, I have two qvw files with different charts and UI components and I want to merge into new QVW file as sheets/tabs.
Hello,
The bestway to do this is to create a new file and copy and paste the script and sheets and check the results for yourself...The issue is, QV works on associative logic, so you should already know what are the problems you might face by doing so.... The advantage is if we want to save some CALs then we might try this.. or call the second QVW with a button from the First one. However if you merge, what if there is a new table altogether in the second QVW which was never used in the first file and what if there are similar tables, then you would end up tidying the application for nobody knows how long....
