QMC - Change App Owner

I'm looking to set up access that will allow users to change the app owner via the QMC (Qlik Sense 3.1).  I've sussed how to allow access to the Apps section, and how to allow the value in the Owner field to be deleted.  But I don't get the drop down list of users, and any free-text value that is input into the Owner field is greeted by "This is not a valid value".

I've used the Custom Properties and Security Rules to get me this far, but feel I may be missing a rule or a condition within a rule.

Thanks,

Sean

Check if you have "Change Owner" option enabled in the security rule associated with this stream and required users:

Thanks for your response Vlad.  This is the option I previously enabled which allowed me to delete the existing owner. Is there an additional filter or rule I need to apply to allow me to input a new owner? I'm not sure if it's related, but when I access the Users section of the QMC, this is also empty.

Thanks

Sean

The Users section should not be empty.... It should at least have your account listed there...

Are you sure your account has enough privileges on the system (RootAdmin level, for example)?

We started with bog standard installation, then looked at implementing Team Administrator rules using this guide - Creating Team administrators in Qlik Sense.

The Team Admins now have access to the relevant areas of the QMC, but are missing full functionality (i.e. change owner list populated, publishing to a stream other than 'Everyone').

Thanks

Hi Sean,

Did you discover what was missing for you to be able to change the owner and see the users?

I've currently used parts from the same thread to obtain the role requested by our users and I cannot change the owner of an App.

For the stream to be available in the list this example worked for me:

Security rules example: Creating QMC content admin roles ‒ Qlik Sense.

I hope it helps you too.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alexandra,

The reason behind the empty list when deleting the current user was a missing rule on the users resource of the QMC.  Although access is granted to be able to change the owner, the new owner must be 1 that the current user has visibility of.

My solution uses a Custom Property called 'Business Area', which needs to be assigned against the Stream and against Users.  You should have a rule that controls User visibility which will allow your user changing the owner to see other users who are part of the same Business Area.

This is a simplified explanation of how to get it working - I'll try and put together a more detailed guide soon!

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean and thank you very much for your response.

I managed to make it work also with Custom Properties and adding read rights on User* resources in a separate security rule.
