export to excel .xlsx not .xls

Hi All,

Please can you assist me.  I am on Qlikview version 11 and when I export to excel the data comes out in .xls format so IE opens it with Microsoft excel 2003.  I need the export to excel to open in .xlsx format.  My server has Microsoft office 10, so I have excel 10 on it but it is IE that chooses the program to use to open the file with depending on the type.

So my question is ' how do I get Qlikview to export to excel in .xslx format please?'

Will upgrading to version 12 do the trick or is it an option or setting I need to change somewhere?

Many thanks

However it should be - it's ridiculous that it isn't implemented.

And even if there are people who say "oh, you could jump through this hurdle to make it work" that completely misses the point: this is trivial to implement and pointlessly inconvenient in the current form.

we are on version 11.2...we were at service release 7 and it exported to xls

we installed the Version 12 client, but experienced issues with printing straight from Qlik

we updated the SW to Service Release 17 and now it exports to xlsx

be aware - I had to update our ODBC Driver and redefine the connection to the SQL server with the new driver since the triggers wouldn't automatically connect and refresh...but now that we did that the 12 client works with SR17

we decided to go to the version 12 client because we will be updating to version 12 soon since they are dropping support for 11.  They said it would work...but it does if you are on the current service release of 11.2

so there is hope 🙂
