localhost could not be found

i get this error when using IE plugin:

qvp://SERVER/file.qvw?iis_authenticate=FDFSREWEWR43232FSDFSDFS343&tunneler=http%3A/scripts/QVSTunnel.dll%3Fhost%3DLocalhost could not be opened.

i tried to use opendoc_fix, added localhost and servername to the host file. doesn't solve the problem. any one else see this error?

seems like it is a specific tunnel issue?

We are experiencing this same error as well.

Have you tried added the IP address to the "Link Machine Name" attribute under QEMC > Setup > Server > General > External Linking ?

I was experiencing something similar, and this corrected it.

Hope that helps,

Bnichol - did you use the internal or the external IP address?

I used the 000.000.000.000 format, but you should be able to use the server name or a DNS entry.

Any new information around this? We are having the same issue. Not using IIS but getting the same error. Anyone able to solve this issue? We just upgraded from Qlikview 9 SR 7 to Qlikview 10 SR3.

Hello all,

I had the same problem and the solution provided by bnichol worked successfully for me.  I used the actual server name and it worked as expected.  To clarify, I entered the server name as the "Link Machine Name".  I would imagine using the IP address would work as bnichols stated.

Thanks bnichols!

I got this problem today on one machine

Solution : grant Write acces to Users or Everyone on C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys

Usually this folder has a special permissions for Everyone, but on this machine it did not. So I may give more permissions than necessary, just be warned, but it does work fine now.

I'm having this issue with a windows 7 machine and iexplorer 9. I've checked the firewall, port 4747 is open, added ip to trusted sites, turned off protected mode, but i'm still getting the

qvp://server/application.qvw?iis_authenticate=longnumber&tunneler=http://server/scripts/QVStunnel.dll%3Fhost%Dlocalhost could not be opened

error almost inmediately after trying to open the document. I don't want to activate tunneling, but I don't know what else to tweak on windows.

Hi bnichol

Are using external acces (from internet) or just in your intranet, so if you use external access the ip you put in the Link Machine Name was your external ip or just the internal ip of the server?
