Prediction function in QlikView

Hello,

I was wondering if there is any function in QlikView which can predict, what data will be in the future in relation of data pattern?

I have already google it, but I didn't find anything useful. Maybe I wasn't looking with correct string.

Great example - it's very helpful to see a QVW.  One question:  Do you know how to show the forecast dimension labels along the x axis?  In your example, they would be:  9, 10, 11 and 12.

I have not tried this but my first though is to uncheck the "Surpress the zero Value" option in presentation tab. Hope this should work.

Good news and bad news about unchecking "Suppress Zero-Values."

Good news:  It does indeed show the forecast dimension labels along the X axis.

Bad news:  It causes the forecast line to be incorrect.

Any other suggestions?

Hi Stacy,

You are welcome. I thought it would work but thats not the best solution. Have you tried to check the "Continuous" CheckBox under Axes Tab > Dimension Axis > Continuous Check Box.

"Suppress Zero-Values" will show up all the dimensions which have 0 or null values. So that's not the best way to do it. If the Continuous Check Box dont work then only thing I can think is to overlay one more copy of the chart with transperency as 100% to show all the 12 months (Not a neat solution but I had used this technique in the past).

Hello DV,

I contacted tech support, and was told that the display along the X axis works only with a dimension that is a number (or date) - which makes sense now that I think about it.

I was using strings that depict fiscal quarters (e.g., FY11_Q1, etc.), so the forecast quarters were null along the X axis.  If I use Dual and quarter end (or start) dates when loading the fiscal quarter string, I can display the forecast dates. 

You were absolutely correct about checking "Continuous," and the overlay concept might work - I haven't tried it yet because I think that the display of months will probably suffice.

Attached is a file showing the use of the dual value.

Stacy - Thank you very much for the update. Very true, we need to use only dimensions with numeric values or dates (QV interprets the dates as numbers ). So it won't work with string data type values. This is where the use of Dual() functions come handy!!

Actually i need to forecast data from Jul 2013 till jul 2014 based on average of data for 2012 and 2013.
