How do you change where QlikSense Desktop saves apps?

How do you change where QlikSense Desktop saves apps? From C: to a central shared drive?

Or can you?

If answering please assume little/ no knowledge on my part as I'm new to QlikSense and didn't set it up originally.

It's not possible to change the default app saving folder, which is defaulted to the path

C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Apps

Any specific reason you wanted to do that?

Maybe go to

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\Qlik\Sense

and open Settings config file (text file)

After [Setting 7]

Paste DocumentDirectory=C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Qlik\Sense

The Folder location in Red can be anywhere you like....

Close the Qlik Sense Application before making this setting or the txt file won't save.

Good thing is to save original Settings Config file at safe place, in case anything happens

Thanks - I can't find this Setting config text file you reference, and I think it may be because Admin IT installed QlikSense so I don't have permissions (work computer). I've emailed my IT department to see if they can look at it with me under Admin permissions and see if we can locate it and make the change.

I want to have it in a shared drive so that other people have access to the development work if the computer goes bust, or I can't log in to get it (as it would be specific to my work login account on the C drive).

For local desktop you may have the access to the QS folder.

Check under Your username in C drive, Documents,Qlik..

And I believe to save the apps into shared drive, you may need access to that drive before you do it.

Also move all your apps into shared drive or it will create duplicates in QS Desktop App.

If you talking about server I do not know for sure, I do not have QS server as I'm not working on QS.

On Server apps would be stored at

C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Engine\Settings.ini

Note: Many times ProgramData folder is hidden, so unhide all files and see if you can find it.

The Settings.ini was saved: C:\Users\Public\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense\Engine
