Server install/problems with IE plug in

Hi all,

I'm new to Qlik. I've installed Qlik server machine. I tried accesing one file example from IE and it worked. I used the URL: http://localhost/QvPlugin/opendoc.htm?document=Presidents.qvw

Now I want to access that same document from my PC (different domain) and I get an error message "Fail to open document. You don't have access to this document".   I used the same URL changing the serveer name: http://serverIP/QvPlugin/opendoc.htm?document=Presidents.qvw

Of couser it's related to security but I have no idea where to start. I've read the docmentation but couldn't find anything. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Hi,

Start with checking if your firewall, on server or on server domain, allows you to connect to QV server from externally.

Best regards

Hi,

The reason is you have just copy pasted the link to your local computer.

When you use the link on server it works, the reason is the user on server is a valid qlikview user who have the right to access the reports. i.e a license is allocated to him either Name CAL/ Doc CAL/ Session CAL, but user on your local computer is not a valid user for Qlikview Server and coording to him you are not authorised to view the file.

So if you want to access from your computer, you need to assign the CAL to your user. You can do this manually also and Automatically a CAL can be assign to you, but for that you need to do following settings on Server.

QEMC -> System-> License -> Server -> Allow Dynamic CAL Assignment.

    I hope you understood.

Hi, I checked this and the setting is set up as you mention. Still no luck... I also tried adding my user name MyDomain\MyWindowsUserName

Any other thought?

Hi,

How did you assign CAL to your user.

One more thing i would like to say is that if you want local user( User on user) to connect to accesspoint then you need to create a windows directory. If you want other users to connect to Server then in that case you need to create an Active directory.

Ok, we don't have AD in this server for now. I will leave this question and re open when necessary.

Thanks.
