How to count number of occurrences in a list of top performers

I am trying to figure out how I can write an expression that ranks the top 20 performers and then counts the number of times our brand occurs in that top 20 list as a KPI.

For example:

Let's say there are 100 different convenience store brands in the San Diego market. Let's also say that each brand has 10 stores in the market totaling 1,000 convenience stores in San Diego.

Assume I have monthly performance data in gross sales dollars on each of the 1,000 stores. I am interested in how well brand A is doing. What I would like to do is select the top 20 out of 1,000 stores based on monthly gross sales dollars and then count how many times brand A appears in that top 20 list. I want to display this count as a KPI.
