Google Maps are not working on server

Hi All,

In one of my  application i incorporated the google map using API. the map is working fine when i open qvw file in my local PC but i am not able to see the map on server. i can see the bubbles on scatter chart but google map is not appearing. I checked and made sure that The Windows Account running the QVS service  have internet access . Could you anyone suggest is there any other settings do i need to modify to work google maps on server?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Is it the same version? If the server is QV10 (and the desktop is not ) try to change the transparency to 0%.

Hope this helps,

Erich

Hi,

sounds like a similar problem to this

http://community.qlik.com/message/143072#143072

As you've set the Windows account to have acces there still could be other overriding proxy and domain settings that you might need to check to ensure the server is able to go to google and grab the images

Simmons,

Thanks for response.

internet access is working fine in the server and i am able see the google maps in web browser. But if i open the qvw file using qv client on server i cant see the google map.i can see the map if i open the same qvw on my personal local laptop.

If you still think it could be proxy/domain settings issue on server. could you help me out how can i ensure(test) server is able to go to google and grab the images.

hmm interesting,

you say you have set the QVS service to have internet access, when you use the client on the server like that your not actually using the QVS but instead the stand alone QV exe itself, have you checked to ensure that the actual QV application itself has the allowed permissions also?

thanks

I did not set any Internet access settings to QVS. I am not sure how to do that. what i meant was i have Internet access on remote desktop where QVS server is installed and i was able to open the Google maps on IE browser.could you help me how to set internet access to QVS server.

I can't comment on the settings you have on your server but as the application works fine on the desktop it does sound like some proxy setting on the server itself causing the problem here, there is no specific QV setting that I am aware of that you need to get the maps to work on servers, maybe someone else on the forum with a bit more experience of this has other ideas to help.

sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Joe

Hi:

Google wants to count how many users use their maps.

You need to get a gmap_key in the link below.

// get a key here http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html

gmap_key

That could be it.

Hi!

I'm not sure whether or not you fixed this problem yet, but I had the same problem (map background not showing in server environment) but it's fixed!

On the server I had the personal editon installed, without a desktop license. As soon as I entered a license key for the desktop and restarted QV it worked! I'm not sure whether or not you'll need a licensed desktop version if you haven't installed the desktop version. But it looks like if you have, you need a desktop license!

Hope this helps!
