Creating a Variable to Manipulate a Table QlikSense

I have two ways I want to look at sales data in a table: Brand and Store #.  I want one sheet to limit the amount of sheets my sales team looks at, but cannot figure out how to create a variable properly.  When I insert the variable into the sheet and go to the editing portion of it, I do not have the drop down option under name.  It's just an empty box that I can type in.  What could I be doing wrong?

Variables created = vBrand the FX = Brand and vFleetName FX = FleetName

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks,

Considering your variables as strings, I would suggest you, if you want to get the string value, put this as expression:

='$(vBrand)' //then you must to see Brand as result

='$(vFleetName)' //then you must to see FleetName as result
