upgrade from 16.4 to 16.6 and lost ON-Demand functionality

Hi Everyone

We recently upgraded NPrinting version from 16.4 to 16.6 and lost on-demand functionality. We had NPrinting functional just prior to upgrade but lost it right after. Every time end user tries running on-demand it gives below error. Schedule jobs runs fine.

Nprinting on demand service error. Please check if NPrinting service is reachable upgrade

What we have checked so far:

1) port 9000/9001/443 is reachable from end user to Nprinting server.

2) NPrinting report generation works from within NPrinting server. We can produce report.

3) Extensions were properly installed.

4) Certificates are properly binded. We made sure thumbprint matches.

Few Questions:

1) Does the 16.6 installed during upgrade overwrites your ODS.config file or any other settings, which you may have to reset?

2) Has anyone encountered anything similar?

Anyone with clue as to how we can troubleshoot this. We are out of ideas at this point.

Hi Mohmed,

From the client machine (where your user is attempting to use the On-demand extension in a QlikView document), what do you see when you go here in a web browser?: http://<NPrintingServer>:9000/ods

Replace http with https if you have enabled SSL. Here is a guide on setting up SSL in On-demand: How to Enable SSL in On-Demand

If you do not see something like this:

You will need to troubleshoot your setup:

How to Use NPrinting On Demand Extensions in QlikView Documents

Hi Mohmed,

Next step would be to go through the pages linked to at the bottom of my previous post and ensure that your setup conforms to all requirements. Use them as check-lists.

If you still can't get it to work post some screenshots of each step so we can see what you are seeing.

HTH - Daniel.

Any pointers as to where it could be coming from?
