Hi Everyone
We recently upgraded NPrinting version from 16.4 to 16.6 and lost on-demand functionality. We had NPrinting functional just prior to upgrade but lost it right after. Every time end user tries running on-demand it gives below error. Schedule jobs runs fine.
Nprinting on demand service error. Please check if NPrinting service is reachable upgrade
What we have checked so far:
1) port 9000/9001/443 is reachable from end user to Nprinting server.
2) NPrinting report generation works from within NPrinting server. We can produce report.
3) Extensions were properly installed.
4) Certificates are properly binded. We made sure thumbprint matches.
Few Questions:
1) Does the 16.6 installed during upgrade overwrites your ODS.config file or any other settings, which you may have to reset?
2) Has anyone encountered anything similar?
Hi Mohmet,
Did you install the NPrinting extension objects on the client machine as well? In addition to the QlikView server, the NPrinting On-demand extension objects must also be installed on each client machine that uses them. See: Install QlikView NPrinting Release 16.x.x.x
As Ruggero suggested, since we will need to check network connectivity etc., it would be best to open a support case if you can't get it to work.
HTH - Daniel.
Yes we have installed NPrinting object on client machine.
Question: Is QlikView 12.10 SR8 compaitable with NPrinting 16.6?
Hi Mohmed,
Yes, NPrinting 16.6 supports QlikView 12.10 SR8. See: Requirements for NPrinting 16.x.x.x versions only
HTH - Daniel.
Thank you Daniel for your valuable information and suggestions on this post When is End Of Life for QlikView 11 and NPrinting 16? Read this
I was unable to post a reply comment over there and would like to get more advise so taking a chance by posting here.
I was reading like I can't upgrade directly to NPrinting 17.x from 16.x (only it can be done by installing NPrinting 17.x first and then migrate report templates from 16 platform), if this is the case and as you suggested if I upgrade NPrinting to 16 SR7 will everything works fine. Is it straight forward upgrade or do I have to manually do any specific tasks like importing the report templates and any other configuration steps that are required to do in this process. Please advise.
Thanks again for your time.
Nihal
Hi,
Right now to migrate from Qlik NPrinting 16 any version to 17 you have to manually import users and filters (for example via Excel file) and report templates one-by-one. There is not a tool to import all entities of a 16 installation into 17.
Best Regards,
Ruggero

Thank you Ruggero,
Is it the same process applies if we upgrade to NPrinting 16 SR7, because we are planning to upgrade from 16 SR4 to 16 SR7.
If you upgrade from a 16 version to a newer one you don't need to migrate your content. Newer versions are able to manage projects saved by older but after saving a project with a newer version the same cannot be updated again by an older Qlik NPrinting installation.

Ruggero

Noted, and thank you very much for your guidance on this.
