why desktop version ask me to login?

I downloaded desktop version 4 times and after install it always ask me login credentials. Do i really need Internet connection for desktop version? did i down load wrong version. i am looking for free desktop version so please give me the link. it is so confusing for me.

A naked direct connection to internet was given and Qlik was happy to work.

So next day if you turn on firewall/proxy then dont worry. you know reason

Could not Reach http://localhost:4848/hub/feature/desktop_authentication with error (-324).

reason for that i was told is

1- possible tracking of installations

2- license validity checks

3- control over who can use Qlik so certain rules may block connection

4- region / IP level blocking

5- Statistics for usage of Qlick

Please make correction where above ideas are wrong.
