Qlik Sense Desktop with load problems

Hi,

I normally work on the Qlik-Sense Server environment.

Additionally I use Qlik Sense Desktop on my laptop for script-development with data from the server installation.

The server installation works without trouble.

But the desktop version sometimes causes troubles, I do not understand.

Even if I use exact the same XML-data and the same script as in the server installation.

1) Sometimes the load with the desktop version results in a hang.

I already found out that data stored in Google Drive caused problems. After I copied the data to C: most problems disappeard.

But still sometimes the load hangs. The strange thing is, that this does not appear in the server version.

In the log file I could not find any trouble.

The script should be okay as it works on server side.

How can I find out the problem?

2) When I use the debugger and stop and restart the script several times, each time it gets slower. After some trials it gets so slow that it does not work any more.

When I refresh with F5, most of the time it gets better.

Sometimes it is necessary to restart Qlik Sense Desktop to get normal load performance.

Sometimes I even try to restart the laptop and the first thing I do is to load data. Most of the time it works.

Has anybody experienced the same behaviour with the desktop version?

What could be the reason and how can I solve it?

Can it be solved within the script (execute something regarding cache,...)?

I hope someone can help...

thanks, Thomas

Finally the problem is solved with the November 2017 update for Qlik Sense Desktop.

Seems there was a bug in the version before, that costed me several useless hours

Now there are no more troubles with the data load in Qlik Sense Desktop.

i think its because of the RAM difference. As your server will have more RAM than your desktop.

Use system monitor during loading. In desktop edition when it reach max available memory it just hangs (probably system is trying to use swap file).

Sometimes I feel like it's having memory leaks so maybe resetting whole system might help...

Thanks for your answers, kulwant and Tomasz.

I started the load-script and checked with system monitor. Load for CPU and RAM never got higher than 55%. So I don´t think it is because to less memory.

Next I stopped one running program/process after the other to find out if there is any problem.

Turning off McAffee Antivirus and FortiClient seems to help (less hangs) but sometimes load still hangs and I don´t know how to find out what is the reason. And how to avoid it.
Also the need for refreshing to keep normal load performance after several loads is strange...

I am experiencing similar symptoms in Qlik Sense Desktop February 2018 running on Windows 7. App hangs while in Edit Expression (currently working on a nested IF statement )

Additional hang noticed often after Data Load, App Saved successfully message, window closed ok. When I then try to to open a sheet, it just hangs trying to load app data.

Memory, swap space is not the problem.
