Qlik Sense Desktop Salesforce Connection ERROR

Qlikers,

I'm trying to create a Salesforce data connection and am unable to do so. I have trouble shot a lot, but I can't figure out what is causing the error.  I have all the credentials correct and the user is not locked out. I am using the latest version of Qlik Sense Desktop that was released April 2018.

However, I receive two different errors depending on what I put in the URL field.

1. If the URL is left empty, I receive an error saying that my login information is INVALID, which isn't true.

2. If I use the following URL: https://login.salesforce.com/services/soap/u/42.0 , I receive a 404 Not Found.

Carmen, I tagged you in here because I saw that you had responded to a similar issue involving Qlikview. Any help would be much appreciated!

cri

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Steve,

Are you able to send the Salesforce documentation you mentioned in the thread? Or, maybe you have to attach it to the thread? Or are you saying that you found the documentation somewhere within the Qlik Community space?

Thanks again for all the assistance.

Best,

Ben

Hi,

It was some time ago, so the documentation has probably been superseded.  This appears to be the latest and best from the Qlik side:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/connectors/Subsystems/Salesforce_Connector_help/Content/Introduction/Sal...

You may also need to refer to some SalesForce documentation around the Security Token and getting that generated.

My apologies for taking a while to circle back here. After further testing, I believe the issue maybe be with the URL that the Qlik connector defaults to. Our client uses a specific URL string to bring users to their login portal. It is in the following format (x's substituted for privacy).

https://xxxxx-mil.my.salesforce.com

I can go to this URL and login with the credentials I have been given by our SF Admin; however, when I try to use those credentials at https://login.salesforce.com/ they are invalid. I receive the invalid credentials error when I used the Qlik connector as well so I assume it is attempting the login at the https://login.salesforce.com/ URL.

Furthermore, when I opt to use the custom https://xxxxx-mil.my.salesforce.com  URL, I receive a Qlik error stating that the URL must be in the following formats:

https://login.salesforce.com/services/soap/u/29.0

https://test.salesforce.com/services/soap/u/29.0

I also believe that our client's Salesforce platform is configured for SSO. Could this also cause an error in connecting Qlik?

Thoughts/Comments?

Thank you!

Hi,

I think you could be onto something with the alternate URL used for login.  I've not tried logging onto a non standard URL, so can't offer any direct help.  I would suggest a two pronged approach to getting a solution though, looking on the SalesForce forums to see if you can have a user account that uses a standard login when most users use a custom one.  You can also contact Qlik to see if there is a way to use a non-standard login with the Qlik Salesforce connector.

Knowing what the problem is is a good step forward!

I agree with Steve that you may be on to something with the URL - I don't think the SSO should necessarily be the cause of the issue (we use SSO here, and I can connect to Salesforce with no problem).
