NPrinting Cycling report distribution as .zip across all destinations

Hello,

I'm working with a client and they're using cycling to distribute reports to a folder destination. The reports are being generated properly, but they want the output to be in the archived .zip file instead of individual files in the folder. According to Qlik's official help site, it says:

"Once created, the zip file will be sent to every selected report destination, the same as a standard report. Report cycling works with all distribution methods."

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/November2017/Content/DistributionSchedulesAutomation/CyclingYo...

This works with email as I am getting a .zip archive in the email, but is clearly not the case with the folder destination. Can someone elaborate/clarify if it is indeed possible to have the cycled reports sent to a folder as a .zip archive instead of individual files?

We're using the Feb 2018 release of NPrinting.

Thanks.

I have explored extensively the different ways Nprinting 17 can broadcast the reports and I am sure it is not possible to save the reports directly as a zip file in a shared folder. Whenever you use a folder as a destination, the reports are always saved as separate pdfs.

You could of course save them in the shared folder and have a subprocess to zip them.

Hi,

The help site is unclear.

Cycled reports are send to folder destinations unzipped and are send zipped to all other kinds of destinations (Sense hub, NewsStand, ect).

Best Regards,

Ruggero

Does It possible to have the cycled reports sent by email as individual files ?

Most users from my client open reports with their mobile phones so they need direct access to the attachment. It´s a go no go requirement for this project...

Same problem, and I need the same solution. When will the cycle export without zip be available as a setting?

Hi,

I don't know if and when the option will be added. I could suggest you to use HTML embedded reports into the email body so recipients will see the report immediately after opening the email.

Ruggero

It´s an option but some users receive more than one cycle output. Another idea is send each on in separate email´s. This is how customer works with the current system.

I found this issue reported in the support KB https://qliksupport.force.com/articles/000045351. Do you have any further information ?

This improvement is not yet developed, so the behavior at the moment is the one already described (reports generated from a cycle are send in a zip file to limit the email size). I have no ideas about if and when you will be able to configure this as an potion.

Hi Ruggero,

I've red your reply, and I would like to point out that their are quite a few customers waiting for the option to become available. Can you put it higher on the agenda of the developers?

Thank you for your answer,

Gerald

This can be work-around, have a look at this page: Improving filtering in Nprinting

It is non-zipped, and e.g. a PDF directly to each user.
