Can I seperate qvwebserver and qvs?

HI
My server is low performance now. And I notice that qvwebserver has a heavy load. Can I install 2 servers, which one  installed qvwebserver and the other  installed qvs? And how can I reduce load in server but not clustering.

Thank you

Zhou

Ok, try this

1. Make sure the user running all services in both servers is a domain user that is also a local admin in both servers

(web server and qlikview server).

2. Make sure port 80 is open between both servers, also port 4750 should be open if you're running QVWS.

3a. If you're running IIS as the webserver you need to enter http://MyWebServer/QvAjaxZfc/AccessPointSettings.aspx in QVWS1.png

3b. If you're running QVWS as the webserver you need to enter http://MyWebServer:4750/qvws.asmx

Let me know if you get to the webserver settings then.

Follow your guide.

1\ I use local administrator in 2 servers.

2\ port 80 and 4750 is open

3\ I use qv buildin webserver and the url is set correctly.

But I use the link http://qvwebserverip/qlikview  nothing displayed.  If possible, I setup a new lab enviroment later which you can remote control and help me to look at what's wrong with the system. Could you help me about these?

No, sorry, I can't do that, you need to go through the right channels and insist with support or your local partner until you get a satisfying answer.

First, some clarifications.

  1. You do not need a "cluster license" to have the QvWebServer (or web components) on a separate server than the QVS.
  2. Don't mess around with the config files on th web server - use the Management Console!

Instructions:

If you are using only QvWebServer:

  1. On the web machine, make sure that port 80 and port 4750 is open. Port 4750 is the administration port for QlikView WebServer.
  2. In the Enterprise Management Console, go to System > Setup > QlikView Web Servers, and configure the URL to the web machine; in this case (for example): "http://web-machine:4750/qvws.asmx". Click Apply.
  3. Make sure that no error message is showing from the web server by opening  System > Setup > QlikView Web Servers > QVWS@web-machine > Summary.
  4. Under  System > Setup > QlikView Web Servers > QVWS@web-machine > Accesspoint > Server Connections > Url, select the QVS that you want the Accesspoint to use. Click Apply.

If you are using IIS:

  1. On the web machine, make sure that port 80 is open.
  2. In the Enterprise Management Console, go to System > Setup > QlikView Web Servers, and configure the URL to the web machine; in this case (for example): "http://web-machine/QvAjaxZfc/AccessPointSettings.aspx".

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for detailed explanation.

I'm using  QvWebServer of Qlikview 9.0. In your 4th point

  • Under System > Setup > QlikView Web Servers > QVWS@web-machine > Accesspoint > Server Connections > Url, select the QVS that you want the Accesspoint to use. Click Apply.

I can only see the QVwebServer it self in the option of Url list. And I can't add QVS Url here. It seems that the QVWebServer can't recognize the other server which installed QVS.

Do you have further instructions? Thanks:)

The QVS entries in the list under the Accesspoint inherits from what QlikView Servers that are added under the QlikView Servers node in the tree on the left - that is; any QlikView Servers that the Management Service, and the Management Console, is aware of. Make sure to add and see to it that you can configure the QVS on the other machine by either adding or editing the existing entry under the QlikView Servers node. Then you can select it under the QvWebServer settings.

1. 202 server should only have QVWS installed and running, you should stop the other services.

2. Remove the QVS@192.168.1.202 from the QlikView Server list as there is no QlikView Server running there

3. Add the 192.168.1.202 in the QlikView Web Servers entry.

Or you could just postpone this and do it when you do the QV9 to QV10 upgrade and ask the consultant/person assigned to also do this.
