Plot Area Inactive

I feel silly asking this question, but I have created a chart and the plot area on the colors tab is inactive.  I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to activate and open up so I can apply a color to it.  I've tried changing to different charts types to no avail...  Thanks for your help!

I figured it out.  So if anyone else has this problem, make sure the plot style drop down boxes on the STYLE tab are populated first... sigh.  At least it's Friday!!
