QlikView PDF Distribution Questions

Hello,

I have the following questions about QlikView PDF Distribution

1. Is it possible to directly enter an e-mail address of a user outside of your organization.  I can currently only select users from my Active Directory.

2. Is it possible to customize the subject and body of the e-mail message.

Thank You,

Dear mstoler,

Yes you can send pdfs to emails outside of your organization also.

if you are using Qlikview server version earlier than 11 then you can use custom directory to define your own users and email addresses and if you are using version 11 then it is very easy. just add users email address in a field in your document and while choosing field containing recipients information, choose that field and in check user identity on choose no validation.

So, now no need to be restricted on just NT directory users.

While you can not make a different subject and body for every mail, you can make a template for emails and choose some predefined variables which are available there such as [TaskName], [DocTitle] etc. So, these variables can give you a somewhat customized email for your reports.

To make this email template, go to systems tab in your enterprise management console, and under distribution services go to email templates

Let me know if this makes sense.

Ashutosh

Hi Mstoler,

in Qlikview enterprise management, go to system tab and then under the mail server, you can choose mail layout as either Plain or HTML

This format will be used in all the mails sent by publisher.

Michael,

Also, you can not use an email file in the qvw to send emails in version 10. This was a new feature in version 11 and it really makes it easy to send the data when the people are not in your AD.

Ashutosh,

I have set up the PDF generator and am looking for ways to make the email template work with multiple reports since you cannot make seperate comments for each one. I read your response to Michael and noticed you used predefined variables to yours up.

Is there a list of these "Predefined" variables? If you dont know of one, do you know of a predefined that will return each reports comment section?

Within each report Reports>Report Settings> Settings, you can leave a comment. If I can find a predefined variable or figure out how to set that as a variable thats all I need.

Please let me know if you can help me. Thank you in advance for you assistance.
