how it works with the in-memory?

Hi all,

          Iam very new to this qlikview software. I have some queries regarding this.

1)How it works with the in-memory.?

2)when will be the data loaded into RAM.?

3)when will it create the associative model and how the hierarchies will be done?

4)As RAM is a volatile memory do we need to load the data every tym when the system was off or is there any alternative approach to overcome this?

please help me guys....

The "associative logic" works like this:

Any fields that have exactly the same name (case sensitive also) are associated (connected) unless you specify otherwise by using a special command (Qualify)

The "associative query language" is essentially what you can do in QlikViews Load statement.

Startup QV and go in to the integrated help and read about the Load command!

Download a few sample applications and have a look at them.

for suppose I have some data like(example)

studentid  name       group

1               gendalf   computers

2               shankar  physics

3               gray        chemistry

i have read the associative model stores the data as items and links

how this data will be stored in the associative database. where the columns will be stored and where the data will be stored?

please help me...

If the data is loaded into a QlikView application (.qvw) and you then save the application, the data is stored in the .qvw file itself.

You can also within a QV application Store data into QlikView data files (.qvd) which later can be read from other QV applications.
