QlikView Server: Why I can't write my server licenses ?

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my QlikServer.

I installed my qlik Server and I'd like to put my server licence.

The problem is that I can reach the page where I have to put my licence but when I focus on the input boxes I can't write anything in it.

I don't understand why. All the services are up.

A strange thing that happens is that on the page where I'd have to put my licence on the right bottom I have " Server is down".

What happens? Why I can't put my server licence?

Whay i have "Server is down" when al the services are started ?

Thank you so much.

Hi guys,

we reached a solution.

Our problem was the machine name.

It was too long and QlikView had some problem with that.

We changed the machine name and just to be sure we add some expetions on the firewall, adding two programs: QVS.exe and QVWEBSERVER.EXE.

After that we did again the installation and everything went ok.

So, MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU.

Hope this helps

Hi Giampiero,

Are you upgrading from a preivous installation? Do you have the correct .NET package installed? Does the Event Viewer show some errors related to the QlikView services?

Regards.

Hi Muguel,

thank you so much for your reply.

Two techical data:

My QlikView server release is : 10R4

My server machine is : Windows Server 2003 R2

No, I'm not doing an upgrade.

What do you mean with: Do you have the correct .NET package installed?

Which is the correct .Net Package for QlikView server release is : 10R4 ?

Yes, we have an error related to the QlikView services. it says:

System.Exception: Failed to retrieve CAL configuration from QlikView Server

   at QMSBackendCore.Service.ServiceImpl.GetCALConfiguration(Guid qvsID, CALConfigurationScope scope)

Any idea

Best regards,

Giampiero

Giampiero,

QlikView Server 10 needs to have .NET 4 installed (it will likely work with .NET 3.5). Does that error show when you start the service, or when you go to the QEMC, or when you click on the field to type the license number? Make sure you have the latest updated version of .NET 4 before restarting services.

Hope that helps.

Miguel,

I have .Net 4 extended version installed on my server machine.

The error occured when we go on the QEMC and we follow this path:

SYSTEM-->LICENCES-->QlikView Server

When we click on "QlikView Server" we generate the error

Hi Giampiero,

I have recalled this thread that faces a similar issue. There are a lot of good suggestions there, from port opening (or firewall disabling during the license application), antivirus software disabling, to restart the service if there has been some time since the server was up unlicensed.

Hope that helps.

Hi Giampiero,

Didn't know which tests you did. Can you elaborate?

Hi Miguel,

we tried to:

1 - Install QlikView Server as Administrator of the machine

2 - Disable the firewall

3 - Restart the QlikView Server' process

4 - Change .Net framework passing from 4 to 3.5 that I'm sure it' ok

Nothing changed
