Win 7 QlikView Installation -Error 1325 - 'Userxyz' is not a valid short file name

Hello,

we are just in progress to test Win7 as new operating system and faced an issue as QlikView has been installed on the Win7 machine.

We are currently running QV Version 9 SR4  as Client Installation + Plug in Installation. The installation on the Win7 machine went through without any issues.

However, as I have opened the QlikView application first time, immediately the error

Error 1325 - 'UsernameXYZ (just an example)' is not a valid short file name"

showed up. If you click ok, the next message appears with 'Fatal error during installation' , confirmed with OK as well, the application is closed down .

So no chance to open it.

We tried to give the User local admin rights as we first thought about missing authorizations, but without success.

However, we found a workaround, as it's possible to start the application direct in the program folder via QV.exe.

In this case, the first (1325) error message appears as well, however after having confirmed the message with OK, the application starts and works obviously quite normal (what we have discovered up to now). As the application usually runs a mini-set/configuration at the point of the first start, what doesn't happen during direct call on QV.exe, there's obviously s.th. going wrong during this final set-up.

I did some investigations in the web about the error message and it seems that this is known for new installations on Windows 7, but not specific for QlikView.

Any help how to fix this would be apreciated.

Thanks.

Jürgen
