QV10 SBS - model reload runs but fails

Running QV10 SR4 small business edition.

QV models located on local server drive and SMB shared with the network.

The xls source data file to update the model is in a subfolder on the same shared Qlikview path. i.e. D:\Qlikview\20 MASTER DATA

Both the paths to the data are local folders as far as QV server goes.

On server I set a scheduled reload task to run, but in the logs I see this."Source Document was NOT reloaded successfully"

Hi Bill,

Hmmm, yes interesting - well 1st Q would be "what document log", so thanks for that Daniel. I'd seen the feature but never enabled it because I couldnt see the point or relevance to what I was doing. Now I do.

I enabled it, found the logs and got pointed in the right direction. Model 1 was showing me "cannot access source data file or some such - an XLSX - when creating the model I'd mapped a local drive from a shared network folder, i.e. my model was fetching data from location x:\mysharedfolder. After checking permissions etc which I knew were OK I figured why ... I hadnt mapped that same location on the QV server where clearly the QV scheduler engine was running from - in hindsight my blindspot was assuming that since share was local folder on QV server that QV would find it, but my script referred to a mapped drive location and not the local server folder which was shared. I entered a UNC location of the equivalent of //myqlikviewserver/mysharedfolder into the model load script saved it and all was well. The scheduling running of the script now works fine.

The 2nd model, was giving me a general script error in the doc log - I opened the model ran the script refresh manually - saw no errors - then tried again running it scheduled and the log reports success.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the doc logs, once I saw those I could understand and work with - at least in case 1. case 2 I'll put down as an aberation, because I changed nothing consiously but it works now as well.

Issue resolved, thanks all for your sterling assistance.

Make sure the "generate log file" option is checked, then run again and check the application log. You should be able to find it in the same folder as the qvw file, same name with a .log extension.qv1.png

What does the document log show?
