Simulation of Migration QVS 9 to 11

I have a new VM you need to install the QlikView 9 to migrate it to 11 ... I have a physical server that is in production, I wonder if I can get the schedules of the production server and play in the VM to make the simulation of migration ... Thank you.

Rakesh, there is ways to do things, but at time the cost of going through the XML and changing the server name and other information that is embedded there it is quicker and safer to rebuild the task in version 10. There where new features in 10 that will speed it up like being able to copy and paste the tasks.

Totally agree. I wasn't recommending XML manipulations for upgrade, rather it was just to copy tasks from v9 phy box to new v9 on the vm.

I did go through same exercise and this is what I did in details:

- Get a VM and install QV9 same build as in the live system

- Apply license in VM

- Make same folder structure and copy applications from live system to VM

- Make same QVS and other configuration in QMC in VM, as in live system

- Stop QV distribution services (or rather all QV services) in VM and live system

- Copy QVPR folder from live to VM

- Start QV services in both system

- Now you have same copy of live system with schedules up and running

- Finally for upgrade follow instructions in this document http://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-2647

Hope this clears up discussion and answers OP.

Did you go in and change the server name in the XLM files? This would work fine if both servers were named the same or you made sure in the QEMC you changed everything for the server name to localhost before you did this.
