Using Publisher to email PDFs

All -

I am attempting to start using the PDF Distributor option as part of Publisher. I can set up the task, and it runs successfully, but no email arrives. We are using Active Directory, so when I set up who should receive the document it reads as "John Doe" and AD should convert that to the proper email address.

We are using 9.0 SR3.

Thanks for any help,

John

Take a look at the Distribution TaskLog.txt. and the DistributionReport.xml files that are in the task folder. Any clues there to if anything is actually getting distributed? Does the "John Doe" AD account have a valid email address?

Hi,

I have a similar problem. I get it work to send PDFs from one Task to Email adresses, but i cant get it working, that one PDF with reduction for a special receiver ONLY sent to this defined person for the PDF.

The listed receiver get all reduced PDFs, not the only one which is assigned to him.

Where are the options, where i can define which receiver get which report?

I really need help with this.

Thanks in advance!

Turns out my boss had put in his email address as an "Override E-mail" address on the QEMC Setup.

It was still good to find out where to look in the event that some part of the tasks isn't working correctly.

Thanks-

Anybody know how to email PDFs automatically daily with only the previous day's sales data?

For example, a PDF report sent with all the previous days sales by sales rep to each sales rep.

Hi mjo -

For that, you would need a field that updates every day that says Day X is 'Yesterday'. I use the same field to also identify 'last week,' 'last month,' etc. Once you have that field, you can use the Qlikivew Publisher to limit down to only records that tie back to the value "Yesterday" in that field.

Hopefully that makes sense, if not I can upload an example of what I do for loading SQL calendar information into Qlikview.

You can set a Bookmark with a search expression like

Date=today()-1

and then apply that bookmark in the report Settings.

Other response I rec'd via email:

1) Create the table using set analysis to set the date to today. Use that table in your report for PDF distribution.

When my report has no data, I received the following system error:

The task "Send Daily Cash Report" failed. Part of the log file follows:

3/7/2011 10:18:48 AM Error Could not distribute, unexpected error.. Exception=System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

at QDSMain.LoopReductionSet.get_Current()

at QDSMain.DistributeTask.ApplyRules(ILogBucket i_LogBucket, DistributeSourceDocument i_SourceDocument, Document i_QVBDocument, Int32& io_Round)

at QDSMain.DistributeTask.InternalExecute(ILogBucket i_LogBucket, TaskResult currentTaskResult)

3/7/2011 10:18:49 AM Error The task "Send Daily Cash Report" failed. ErrorCount=1

Is there anyway to supress this information or better yet, send out an alternative email?

Thanks,

Vu

Have you ever found a solution for this? i sometimes loop and reduce over an empty field .. but results in this error

Perhaps i can create a  counter on a certain table and then exit script when column of a certain table is empty.
