Qlikview Server 11 Services Issue

qlikviewerror1.jpg qlikviewerror.jpg

Hi,

I am installing Qlikview Server 11. Qlikview Server 11 installed successfully but its services (distributionservice and server service) are not working as shown in the pictures above. With this problem I am unable to install the Qlikview successfully.

The steps I have done to make it successful are

  1. I have Qlikview Server 10 SR2 previously, I install Qlikview server 11 initial release on it with putting a check on remove the previous version. It installs successfully but its services didn’t started.
  2. Then I uninstalled Qlikview server 11 and installed it again, than again its services given the same issue.
  3. Then I uninstalled Qlikview server 11 and installed the Qlikview 10 SR2 and itinstalled successfully and its services also started successfully but again when i uninstalled Qlikview 10 SR2 and tried installing Qlikview Server 11, its gives the same services issue..

Kindly help me out what to do. Your Quick help would be appreciated

I had a lot of problems upgrading as well.  I Uninstalled QV10 manually, deleted "C:\Program Files\QlikView" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\QlikView".  Then Reboot.  Install QV11.  Right after that installs, reboot again.  See if that works.  Be sure that you have the correct versions of .NET and .NETFramework and all that stuff.  It makes a huge difference!

Good luck and report back.

Hi guys but how do clean the registry?? and kindly explain this "Take the backup of folder C:\ProgramData\Qliktech"

there are many ways to clean registry, the most basic is to go to Run -> and write Regedit, it will open the registry and you could clean it by finding, searching and deleting files, but it could also make windows unstable if you have deleted some wrong files. So the best to download CCleaner, install it, open it, it will show you the registry entries and it could clean the registry on its own.

"Take the backup of folder C:\ProgramData\Qliktech"

Actually when you install qlikview than it makes a folder in Windows Programs directory named as Qliktech folder. Program data folder is windows hidden folder which contains important info, So you could just go and open the hidden folders, now you could see ProgramData folder in Windows directory e.g. C:\ProgramData. in ProgramData you could see the Qliktech folder which contains all your logs, server files, your lef files and whatever the working you have done on Qlikview Server. So for backup we just need to physically copy that folder and than again paste it to the same place.

Thank you.

Hi Ahmed Ali,

Could you precisely show me the exact directory to delete it from the registry and what a shame i deleted this "C:\ProgramData\Qliktech" completely, what are the implications??

Hi Ahmed,

I managed to resolve the issue simply by running a fresh installation as an Administrator. Initially i made mention that i changed the server name but it kept the old name for some reason i was totally clueless about. So essentially i uninstalled and deleted all other traces from Appdata.I right clicked and run the setup as Administrator and it worked perfectly. Thanks anyway
