Random Comexceptions (0x80004005) after upgrade to QVS 11

Hi,

We've just upgraded our Qlikview server from a customer patch 9.00.7652 to 11.0.11154.0.

We have a quite large installation with around 1.000 reload tasks per day.

Version 9 worked stable with this amount of reloads, but the console acted damn slow thats why we upgraded to version 11.

Now we face the problem that the QVS throws randomly Comexceptions:

Error The sourcedocument failed to open..Exception=System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): ErrorHRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. atQlikView.Global.SetUserPreferences(IUserPreferences _Preferences) atQVBWrapper.Document.Load(ILogBucket i_LogBucket, Boolean withData)

Our setup is a dual Xeon (8 cores) with 16GB on W2k3 R2.

In version 9 we've used 7 simultaneous engines. It seems if I drop the engines the Comexceptions are getting less, but there still there even with only 2 engines running.

Qliktech support tries currently to figure out why this happens.

They mentioned that its possible that queued reloads could also occupy a handle to a com object and raise the values above Windows limits of handling com objects.

We use alot of TaskFinished triggers and so there are quite alot of queued tasks.

Right now I cannot see how to break this chains without loosing the administrative overview.

Has anyone else problems with Comexceptions in Version 11 and maybe even better a solution for the problem?

Best regards,

Tom

Hi,

sorry that I forgot to post our solution.

The antivirus scanner caused the problem. We use Trendmicro which seems to not like the latest versions of Qlikview anymore.

We excluded QVW and QVD file extensions and all Qlikview related directories from the live scanner:

C:\Program Files\QlikView

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech

C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\QlikTech

D:\Qlikview Storage\ (all Qlikview reports, log files, accesspoints are in that directory)

Since then we had no more Comexceptions.

Hope that helps!

Best regards,

Tom

Please report this to QlikTech Support, there was a similar ComException issue in QV10 but I believe it was resolved already.

Hi,

Have you checked that the user set up in the DSC has permissions to read it? In the QMC, System, Setup, DSC, if the user is not allowed to read the directory, a red asterisk "*" is displayed.

Apart from that, and maybe obvious, is .NET 4 Extended installed onto the computer where QlikView Server is running?

Hope that helps

Miguel
