QV Developer License?

During the developer training I was told that licensing was for viewing files and that by downloading QV Desktop I could create and edit as many QV documents as desired.  I installed it but I'm be told that I have a limited # of days to use this program.  Someone from QV is supposed to be contacting my supervisor to resolve this but that has been nearly 2 weeks.  Is there a fee for this product and if so why was I advised that there wasn't?

Tim,

I am not sure if your advisors were talking about older or newest version of the software.

In QV 11, only the Personal Edition of the Desktop Client is free, but limited in the way that you are in general not allowed to open others documents (in fact you can a few times using a so called recovery but please read the personal edition FAQ http://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-1799 )

I am not 100% sure, but I believe in version 8.5, there was no free or personal edition, but an evaluation period (like your screenshot tells us also).

I am again not sure if you want only to evaluate the software over a short period of time or if you want to use this 3rd party qlikview file in production / for a longer period, so I can't really advice if the evaluation period of 8.5 or maybe the usage of QV11 personal edition might be sufficient for your case.

If you are asking for pricing, you find all information on the QT homepage ( a desktop license should be equal price as the named user license) :

Are you sure you downloaded the latest version of QlikView from the QT server?

This screenshot seems to be from a quite old version.

if you evaluate, you can make and edit as many of your documents as you want, you cannot do it to documents others have created

We got it through a 3rd party that will only support older versions currently.  This is V 8.50.6326.5 x64

I need to be able to edit the QV doc that they provided with their software to customize it to our business model.  Do I need to purchase a Developer license for that?

Thank you swuehl.  I'll check those out.  I suspect I'll need to wait for our 3rd party to provide us with what we need.  QV11 crashes when I open their file.
