Wildcard within a field

I'm trying to figure out what symbol to use as a wildcard.

For example my field is:

MRP Group

M*

M02

M03

M04

M05

etc...

What symbol do I use after M  so that when M* is selected, everything beginning with the letter M is selected as well.

Do I have to write an expression in the script for this?

Any suggestions are appreciated,

Hi,

I'm attaching the sample QVW file for your reference. I'd use ='M**' and then use the select in field (Trigger).
