How to deploy qlikview file (.qvw) locally or remote system

Hi

I am very new to Qlikview...recently i have downloaded Qlikview Personal Edition 64bit. I created some files .qvw after connecting to different data source.

Happy I was successful in this operation.

Now my next step was to deploy this document locally or on a remote system....

Please provide help on the following

1) How to deploy .qvw document locally or through client server model.

2) If we can deploy through client/server model what else I need to download.

3) Can we deploy .qvw in a system which do not have any qlikview application.

4) How can we refresh data of a particular .qvw document.

5) If I create a Qlikview file/document, can this be viewed by any other user who has only the Database connectivity.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Manoj Lakshmanan

1.) You can deploy the qvw by any means batch, copy, Qlikview Publisher etc

2.) You would need to purchase a Qlikview Server License and Qlikview Publisher License

3.) QVW and QVD are Qlikview specific

4.) You can schedule the refresh of a Qlikview document on the Qlikview Publisher or you can manually reload since your using Personal edition

5.) You are using the personal edition of Qlikview, the recipient would need to have a full version of Qlikview Desktop to be able to open the document.

Thank you very much Felim. I got my queries cleared.

Now Iam quite clear on how we can deploy the qlikview documents.

But I have still some points to be cleared

1) As per the point #1, what do you mean batch and copy options can you explain it ..

2) Do we have to write some code/scripting for refreshing qlikview documents so that the recent data gets loaded.

Please let how or where I can find some explanations for the above points.

1. ) You would have to manually copy and paste the file or use a .bat file to do that for you

2. ) You need to open the dashboard and press Ctrl + R (shortcut)

Please find my answers below:

1) How to deploy .qvw document locally or through client server model.

- By copying the file to the mouted folder in the server. Same can be accessed using the access point

- Using the batch file you can copy the files to the mouted folder

- It can be deployed using the publisher

- It can be deployed to the server and same can be accessed in mobile

2) If we can deploy through client/server model what else I need to download.

- You need to purchase QV Server/Publisher license

3) Can we deploy .qvw in a system which do not have any qlikview application.

- Yes you can do it but it can only be accessed if IE plugin in installed

4) How can we refresh data of a particular .qvw document.

- You can refresh through QEMC. It can schedule the data refresh!

5) If I create a Qlikview file/document, can this be viewed by any other user who has only the Database connectivity.

- If they have license then they will be able to view the document even if there is no database connectivity. For your information when refresh, QV loads all the data in to the application so DB connectivity is not required.

Hi..

2) Do we have to write some code/scripting for refreshing qlikview documents so that the recent data gets loaded.

There is no need to write a script, Because we can schedule the tasks by daily or weekly in QMC(Qlikview management Console). So, recent updates in database is also load into qvw document.
