Creat a group and link it to QMC ?

Hello ,

I have deployed a couple of Documents on the access point.

Authentication Type: Windows authentication, everybody on the domain can view it.

My requirement is to create a group that only contains select number of people from that domain.Only they must be able to access the documents on the access point.

I have created a group in the server manager  by the name Qlikview users..I have attached a snapshot.

I have been trying to  link this group with QMC ( SBE QVS 11) ..Any ideas on how to go about.

If you are not using publisher you will have to manually set the rights on the file or you will have to setup section access on the document.

You can use local server groups or AD groups, but QlikView groups are only for customer users.

I created an idea long ago about this, hopefully Bill agrees it will be a great idea and can pull a few strings.

Instead of manually configuring the QVW files, you might consider creating a folder for each group and applying permission at the folder level.  Then each User Document that is copied to the directory will inherit the correct permissions.

A mix and match of approaches might be needed.

   Where do I create the folder ? Do u mean in the server manager...How is permission assigned..I've been searching on how..ie step by step approach on  how this is done.

   I have been trying to figure this out since 2 days. It would be great if some could share a document that has step by step instruction on how thsi is accomplished.

Using Windows Explorer, create the folder under the "Root Folder" configured for the QlikView Server.  (QEMC > System > Setup >QlikView Servers > Server > Folders)

Still in Windows Explorer, modify the properties of the Folder.  Under the Security tab, edit the permissions.  Remove the inherited permission, and then apply permissions for only the groups you want.

Copy the QVW files to this folder and they should inherit the permissions of the folder.

If you are copying source documents to this user documents folder as part of a batch program, they should also inherit the folders permission.

The QVS will automatically display sub-directories of the "Root Folder" in AccessPoint.  No changes are necessary in the QEMC.

This is all simplified if you have Publisher.  It's well worth the money.

I have server and publisher both, I want to provide access to QMC(QV11)to few users with out adding users to ADMIN group. What would be the steps?
