Hide documents in access point based on section access

Is it possible to show a document in access point only if logged user has permission to access document (based on section access inside documents)?

Hello,

I think no.

You can restrict access to qvw documents by NTFS permissions.

Maybe a little bit late but the solution would to use "Filter Access Point Document List Based on Section Access", which you can enable in QlikView Version 10 and 11 under the Document Properties > ServerFilterAccessPointDocumentListBasedOnSectionAccess.PNG

Hi there,

I've been looking to perform this exact scenario.

I have 3 Qlikview apps in my access point and load a specific section access list for each since not all users get access to all 3 documents.

Each document has 'Filter Access Point Document List Based on Section Access' checked.

Howerver all users can see all 3 apps even though they may not be able to open them.

Does the user have to be in the section access load with something specifying that they don't get access. The fact that they are simply not in the list doesn't seem to be taking care of it.

I'm using version 10 SR3.

Thanks,

Lorna

Hi Lorna,

If you are using DMS, check in the QMC, Documents, User Documents, Authorization tab that only "Named" or "All Authenticated" users are set.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Miguel.

We are actually using NTFS authorization so I guess that is why I don't see the Authorization tab that you mention.

I tried adding my co-worker to the section access with a bogus 'ACCESS' value.  After re-loading the app there was no difference.  He could still see it via the Access Point.

Open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks,

Lorna

Hi Lorna,

Yes, if NTFS is selected, then there is no Authorization tab. I'm assuming the documents are set to "Initial Data Reduction Based on Section Access" and "Strict Exclusion".

Could you post a sample file with a bogus Section Access that is not working?

Thanks for your help Miguel.

I did not have those two settings that you pointed out checked. I checked them, reloaded, but the problem persists.

I created a scaled down app with the same document settings, accessing the same section access information and confirmed that the problem still exists.

Sample and section access source are attached.  I dummied up the section access as suggested.

Really appreciate this!

Okay, I think I got it,

Or at least, got something that is not as it is supposed to be. You need to actually specify users under the NTNAME field or USER field, but you have none (only the * that in your case equals to none) listed in your section access table. I cannot open the file, but if it's loading the XLSX file, that's the issue.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Miguel.

I'm going to give that a shot!  Do you happen to know if it is domain\username or does just user name work?

Sorry about the xlsx.  There is a column called spusername in there but I missed the fact that it is not the field that is being loaded in the script!!!

Out of curiosity how are you able to view the section access of the loaded document?  I was looking around for that a couple of days ago and couldn't figure it out.
