Connecting to ACCESS Database

Hi all

When connecting to an ACCESS database i am getting a SQL error "[ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Record(s) cannot be read; no permission on 'TABLENAME'.

How do I sepcify the WorkGroup database which will permits reading from .mdb databases?

Thanks

(This was also posted in the DATABASE and CONNECTIONS forum but no answers came from there)

OK, I figuered it out. Connection to Workgroup secured ACCESS databases has to be done via OLEDB Provider for ODBC Drivers.

Follow the instructions there to create the link to the Workgroup manager and then connect to the required ACCESS database

Hi

From the description fo your problem, it sounds like you have a secured Access database.

Within the ODBC/DSN file you may be able to add the command line switch that specifies the workgroup file (but I doubt it).

As security is an Access internal process, I seriously doubt that Qlikview, or any other product could apply the assigned security levels.

I would suggest connecting to an unsecured copy of the database, and applying security via QlikView.

Paul
