Aggregating by Previous Time Periods

Hi,

I am wondering if there is a way that I can aggr by a previous date range that I would specify by variables. For example if I wanted to look at Quarter 2 data of 2013 but I need to aggr my counts by the month within this quarter I can do that. But if I wanted to choose a user inputed time range prior to Quarter 2 and aggr by the month in that previous time period I can't get it to work. This is so I can view trending in my straight table.

Thanks for the help,

Bryan

If I understand correctly what you are trying to accomplish, I think you can find the answer in my recent blog post "How to use As-of-date" table:

http://www.naturalsynergies.com/q-tip-4-how-to-use-as-of-date-table/

or in a very detailed article by Gysbert Wassenaar:

http://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-4252

Both articles explain techniques on using Flags to work with previous time periods. In your case, you might need to get even more creative, to enable the range to be selected by users. However, the technique and the line of thought could be useful in your case.

thanks!
